ECM-87 (K series) can be Identified by the quality control number on the capsule housing. The K-series was available from Nov 6, 2008 until Dec 3, 2008.


ECM-87 (H1 series) can be identified by the quality control number on the capsule housing & by new capacitors on the circuit board.  The H-series was available from Dec 3, 2008 until Dec 16, 2008.


ECM-87 (H2 series) can be identified by the quality control number on the capsule housing & new capacitors on the circuit board. The H2-series was available from Dec 16, 2008 until Jan 8, 2009, beginning with S/N H870101.


ECM-87 (H3 series) can be identified by the quality control number on the capsule housing & new capacitors on the circuit board. Jan 9, 2009 until Oct 2, 2009, beginning with S/N H870199.


ECM-87 (S1 Series) can be identified by new capacitors on the circuit board and engraved serial numbers on the brass body.  The S1-series was available from Oct 2, 2009 until Nov 5, 2009, beginning with S/N 871301.


ECM-87 (S2 Series) can be identified by different capacitor (#2) on the circuit board and the engraved serial number on the brass body) The S2-series was available from Nov 5, 2009, beginning with S/N 871346.


ECM-87 (S3 Series) can be identified by the circuit board itself and has been the standard ECM-87 since January 2010.


ECM-87 (S4 Series) can be identified by the new upgraded (black) LF roll-off switch.


ECM-87 (S5 Series) can be identified by the 100v polystyrene coupling capacitor and upgraded (black) LF roll-off switch.


USB-87 No modifications have been done since its introduction on November 5, 2009.  This microphone is only available as a special order item.


ECM-47 Original modifications include the 6072 tube selection and a re-designed screen.  No modifications have been done since its introduction on May 29, 2009.


ECM-58 Cosmetic modifications were done prior to its introduction on May 1, 2010.


ECM-87 (S6 Series) can be identified by the open mesh grille, first introduced in 2011.


ECM-84 was modified in March 2011 and can be identified by the .103mf capacitor.


• ECM-87 (Stealth) was introduced on June 12, 2012.  It can be identified by its black & chrome body & open mesh grille.


ECM-87 (Classic) was introduced on March 24, 2013. It can be identified by its brass body & chrome mesh grille.


ECM-47 (Stealth) was introduced on June 30, 2013.  It can be identified by its black & chrome body & open mesh grille.


ECM-47 (Classic) was introduced on June 30, 2013. It can be identified by its brass body & chrome mesh grille.


ECM-80 (Beta) was first introduced in October, 2014.  It can be identified by its grey mesh grille.


ECM-80 (Stealth) was introduced on November 7, 2014 and can be identified by its polished silver mesh grille.


• ECM-87A (Stealth & Classic) was introduced on August 3, 2015.  The coupling capacitor has been moved to the top of the circuit board and is supported with acrylic bonding adhesive.


ECM-84 was modified on August 3, 2015 and can be identified by its 1-piece cardioid capsule.


ECM-84 PRO was introduced in November 2016 and can be identified by its all black body and capsules.
